Why this book exists
The purpose behind it
This book exists because I went looking for it and could not find it. Not in the days right after my stroke, and not during the months of recovery that followed. I found books written by doctors about the biology of stroke. I found books written by psychologists about resilience in the abstract. I did not find a book written by a 24 year old who had just lived through both at once.
I wrote The Human Mind to close that gap. It is a record of what actually happened to me at Ruby Hall Clinic in May 2025, told with the same precision I would apply to any dataset: the diagnosis, the lab values, the day by day timeline. It is also an attempt to explain, in plain language, the neuroscience and psychology I studied while I was healing, because understanding what was happening inside my brain gave me back a sense of control that fear had taken away.
"Your brain may be injured, but your mind, your capacity to choose how you respond, remains unbroken." Ashwik Bire
I am not a doctor. I am a data scientist who survived something a data scientist should not have been able to predict, and who used the only tool he had, curiosity, to come back from it. If any part of this book helps you, or someone you love, get through a hard day, it has done its job.
